Exploring Kairos barefoot

Our feet are the root system of the body, they are our primary sensor for taking in information from the planet.

At Kairos, residents and guests experience increases in their general sense of wellbeing, understanding of natures rythms, improved sleeping patterns and higher perceptive abilities as a consequence of prolonged barefoot walking.

 

When walking barefoot, our body absorbs free ions from the Earth’s surface, which act as antioxidants. Researched benefits include improved sleep, normalizing the day–night cortisol rhythm, reduction in pain, reduction of stress, shifting the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic toward parasympathetic activation, increasing heart rate variability, speed wound healing, and reduce blood viscosity.

Modern feet have lost a great deal of strength and flexibility from the constant pressure of modern shoes, producing an effect similar to what would happen if our hands had cast on everyday. Over time the hand would lose strengh and general capability to perform useful and beautiful tasks. This is what modern shoes have done to our feet.

 

The land at Kairos is very mild on the feet, but wild enough to challenge and build needed strength and dexterity.

Kairos serves as a bridge to a more organic future where we regain connection with nature in a new way whilst maintaining old wisdom.

Walking barefoot is a wise step.

KAIROS BAREFOOT POLICY

 To ensure the most connected experience at Kairos, we strongly encourage all guests and residents to walk barefoot or to wear minimalist shoes.

​

5 finger toe shoes from Vibram for example, Barefoot sandals or completely barefoot. 

Before the entrance to each of our buildings you'll find water to rinse your feet and a towel to dry before entering
